Born and raised in Newark NJ, Reginald Bledsoe passion for education and equal opportunities began early on as he's been a long time resident of Newark attending grade school through high school where he graduated from Newark Technical. It was during his time at ECVTS where the spark was lit for politics. Reginald became heavily evolved with various political campaigns before graduating in 2009.

 

Shortly after enrolling at Montclair State University, Reginald once again became active in various student actives and everyday campus life. Which eventually paid off by being elected by his peers as the First African American Student Trustee of Montclair State University.

 

Today, Reginald serves on the Academic Affairs and Facilities Committee. They are responsible for overseeing all matters relating to the academic mission statement of MSU to ensure it's students and facility adhere to the Universities mission. Reginald public service career began in 2010, when he was elected the youngest District Leader in District 5 of the Central Ward. In the public sector, Reginald briefly had the pleasure of serving as a Legislative Aide to Freeholder President, Blonnie R. Watson. He intern with the late U.S. Sen. Frank R. Lautenberg, within the Executive Offices of the Clerk of the Board of Chosen Freeholders Deborah Davis Ford and with the City of Newark in the Newark WORKS Department formerly known as The Mayor's Office of Employment and Training (M.O.E.T.). Reginald has gained vital experience working as an Legal Assistant for the Law Offices of Kristie M. Howard, LLC. In addition to that, he has worked as a Special Assistant to Kristie M. Howard, Esq. while she served as Vice President of the East Orange Board of Education. When Reginald is not studying he volunteers on High Park Gardens’ Youth/Activities Committee within the management office of High Park Gardens. He is also a member of the New Jersey Federation of Housing Cooperatives, and an Individual Member to the National Association of Housing Cooperatives, where he was featured as a young cooperator in NAHC's 2013 Annual Progress Report.

 

He is the recipient of numerous community awards including the Newark Unit of the NAACP Religious Affairs Committee-Unsung Heroes Award, the Newark Municipal Council Commendation Award for Empowered Leaders Training, the Essex County Board of Chosen Freeholders- Essex County Cares for Kids Celebration and the Newark Municipal Council Commendation Award for the National Council of Negro Women Essay Contest.

 

Currently, Reginald attends Montclair State where he's expected to complete his masters degree in Political Science this fall. After college, Reginald plans to become an attorney so he can end the miscarriage of justice in urban communities. Reginald resides in High Park Gardens with his loving grandmother Martha Bledsoe.
